Description

This training is open to BIPOC healers, doulas, birth workers, birth keepers, bodyworkers, and wellness practitioners who feel called to support clients and/or loved ones during the postpartum period and other significant life transitions. No massage license is required. Cierre de Caderas, meaning “closing of the hips,” is a traditional postpartum ritual rooted in Traditional Mexican Medicine, offered to support the body after birth and to gently call the spirit back into the body with care, grounding, and integration. During pregnancy and birth, the body undergoes profound physical, emotional, and energetic changes. The pelvis softens and opens to allow for birth, and many women experience a sense of openness or vulnerability after this transformative experience. Cierre de Caderas is traditionally offered as a ceremonial closing ritual to help bring warmth and support back to the body. In this training, participants will learn how to safely and respectfully guide a Cierre de Caderas session using traditional rebozo wrapping techniques. Students will also be introduced to foundational bodywork techniques inspired by Thai bodywork, including gentle compressions and stretches used to prepare the body before the closing. These techniques help soothe the nervous system, relax the muscles, and create a more receptive state for the integration that follows during the cierre. This work is often offered at the end of La Cuarentena, but it may also be supportive for anyone navigating major life transitions, emotional processing, or periods of closure and renewal. Students will learn: • The cultural roots and traditional significance of Cierre de Caderas • Gentle body compressions and stretches to prepare the body before the closing • How to safely guide a closing ceremony using rebozo wrapping techniques • How to create a supportive, grounding experience for clients • When Cierre de Caderas may be appropriate and when it should be avoided • How this practice can support postpartum recovery and emotional integration • Creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing space for this work Educational Disclaimer: All trainings offered through Sacred Womb Therapeutics are for educational purposes only. Participation in these trainings does not grant a professional license or certification to practice any modality. Practitioners are responsible for working within the legal scope of their professional license or certification.
